About Rachel

Psychotherapy Background

I’m Rachel (she/her) and I‘m a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I hold a Master of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Wilfrid Laurier University and currently offer virtual sessions to residents of Ontario and in-person sessions in downtown Toronto.

I work with clients aged 13+ with presenting concerns related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, disordered eating, identity, gender, and sexuality. I particularly enjoy working with teens and the LGBTQIA+ community. I draw primarily from Internal Family Systems and Narrative Therapy while integrating aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Feminist Therapy, Geek Therapy, Queer Theory, and Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy.

What’s a session like?

I know, all the theories and psychobabble don’t really tell you anything about what a session is like. So here it is.

During our sessions, we will explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours related to your experiences. Together, we will delve into the stories you hold about yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. We will uncover exceptions to the challenges you face and identify your personal strengths and values, which can be harnessed during difficult situations.

By discovering and embracing your personal strengths, you can begin the process of rewriting your life narrative, finding alternative solutions, and ultimately enhancing your quality of life.

I will also encourage you to explore how societal norms and structures, such as patriarchy, heteronormativity, and capitalism, have influenced your life. Our sessions will provide an opportunity for you to challenge these norms, reclaim your power, and construct a new narrative that promotes healing and growth. Together, we will embark on a transformative journey toward a more fulfilling and empowered life.

While we address the challenges you’re facing, we’ll also strive to find moments of joy and even humour. I am a strong believer that laughter can be a powerful tool in therapy. We will take the work seriously and we will have some laughs along the way.

On a personal note

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Business from the University of Waterloo. I worked in Tech Sales for 5 years before changing careers so I have first-hand experience with the stress and pressure of working a corporate job.

Outside of my work as a psychotherapist, I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my cat, Arthur. Over the last decade, I have always relied on fitness to support my mental health. I enjoy spin classes, weight lifting, and yoga. I enjoy cooking and have been vegan for 8 years.
