Creating Communities of Care With Student Leaders

In my undergrad, I was passionate about student activities and took on various leadership roles within Orientation and Residence Life. These opportunities were formative in developing skills that propelled me into a career in sales and psychotherapy. However, these roles were also stressful and immensely challenging. The skills I have learned as a psychotherapist are ones I believe can greatly help student leaders manage their own emotional experiences and develop meaningful relationships with the student body.

This discussion-based workshop is designed for students in leadership positions who interact frequently with the student population. The workshop integrates various psychotherapy skills to help students lead from a place of compassion, confidence, and calmness.

 In this unique workshop, participants will:

  • Explore the characteristics of impactful leaders;

  • Learn ways to build relationships with one another through core psychotherapy skills;

  • Discover ways to manage other students and address conflict; and

    Learn how to support a student who is struggling with their mental health.

“Rachel did an amazing job connecting with the team right from the start and making it a safe space for everyone to be vulnerable and share openly. Everyone had an aha moment throughout and there were principles and ideas that we still refer to in management meetings today. I would highly recommend this session for all people managers!”
