Young Adults

Remember when you were in high school and you thought that everything would be better in your twenties? I thought by my twenties I’d have perfect skin, own a house, and go on vacations twice a year.

Ya, right.

Realistically though, we have a lot on our plates. We feel pressure to do everything perfectly, we constantly feel behind compared to everyone around us, and we are so tired of trying to keep up. We’re expected to work full-time but also have a side hustle but also be an activist but also have a thriving social life but also take time for self-care. It’s exhausting.

Not to mention the additional stress we feel caused by the looming threat of global warming and ongoing war around the world. We feel on micro and macro levels these days.

I love working with young adults in therapy for several reasons but firstly because I’m a young adult myself, and I relate to the pressure. Secondly, I think it’s important to recognize and be critical of the social constructs that can cause us to feel worthless, lazy, and aimless. With young adults, we always spend time in sessions identifying where we learned these beliefs and how can we leave those beliefs in the past to let ourselves breathe. Thirdly, I also find young adults are the most committed to therapy, they want to do the hard work, and they make changes in their lives.

I’ve supported young adults with anxiety, depression, relationship and friendship conflicts, self-esteem and confidence, career changes, school stress, burnout, disordered eating, and more. I offer in-person therapy in Downtown Toronto and online therapy to residents of Ontario.
